As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Rwanda table tennis federation (RTTF) has started reaching out to government institutions through a signature initiative to promote the sport amongst government civil servants.
On Wednesday, at their head office, RTTF signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda
Ivan Murenzi, the deputy director-general at NIRS, said that they are pleased to work with RTTF in promoting table tennis at workplaces, and appreciated the equipment donation.
“We have over 300 employees working both on a permanent and temporary basis, it’s therefore important that they can use their free time to unwind,” said Murenzi.
He added: “It’s also a chance for employees from other public institutions to come here, have fun and bond with their peers through table tennis.”
Jean-Bosco Birungi, the RTTF president, stressed that the initiative is a huge step towards the promotion of table tennis in the country and hoped that more public and private institutions will come on board with time.
