From September 9 to 10, the 4th edition of the “Chinese Ambassador’s Cup” table tennis tournament was successfully held in Kigali. H.E. Mr. Wang Xuekun, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, and Mr. John Birungi, President of the Rwanda Table Tennis Federation, attended the event.
Ambassador Wang said that table tennis is an important bridge for exchanges between China and Rwanda. The players showed their great sportsmanship and strong endeavors during the games, laying a solid foundation for greater success in the future. The Embassy will continue to support the development of table tennis in Rwanda and promote sports and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Mr. Birungi thanked the embassy for its long-term support of the work of the federation and for donating sports equipment to the federation. He said that the “Chinese Ambassador’s Cup” has become a regional brand event, and effectively promoted the growth of Rwandan players, encouraged clubs to cultivate talents, and promoted the overall development of table tennis sports in Rwanda. The federation will continue to work hard to bring the level of Rwanda’s table tennis sports to a higher level.
The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and the Rwanda Table Tennis Federation. More than a hundred players from Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi participated.
